The foundation for the development of youth relations between the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Denmark is the intergovernmental Agreement on cooperation in the field of culture, science and education of November 4, 1993.

In accordance with the Agreement, Russia and Denmark will encourage cooperation between government organizations and institutions dealing with youth policy as well as facilitate contacts between youth organizations and youth of both countries.

Denmark participates in the development of international youth cooperation through the Arctic Council, the Barents Euro-Arctic Council (BEAC) and the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS).

The Danish Youth Council is part of the European Youth Forum.
