The European Youth Forum (EYF) was founded in 1996. It is a platform for national youth councils and international non-governmental youth organizations in Europe.

The headquarters of the EMF is located in Belgium, Brussels.

The EYF's vision is to be the voice of young people in Europe, where young people are equal citizens supported to reach their fullest potential as citizens of the world.

The European Youth Forum works in the field of youth policy and the development of youth work. The EYF represents the views and opinions of youth organizations in all relevant policy areas and promotes the cross-sectoral nature of youth policy in relation to different institutional structures.

The work of the European Youth Forum integrates the principles of equality and sustainable development.

The EYF is directly involved in the development and implementation of European youth policy. It acts as a recognized partner of the Council of Europe, the European Commission, the European Parliament, the UN, and conducts advisory activities for these institutions on youth issues and youth organizations.

The work of the European Youth Forum is focused on three main areas envisaged in the strategic plan:

Youth-friendly world

Young people need to be guaranteed the right to a safe life in a healthy environment.

Favorable environment for youth organizations

Civic space must be protected and expanded so that youth organizations can function without financial, legal and political barriers

Thriving Platform

The EYF platform needs to be further developed in order to remain relevant, strong and innovative and cemented as the main voice of young people in Europe.

The European Youth Forum brings together 106 member organizations. Its full members are national youth councils from 39 countries and 41 non-profit organizations. In addition, 26 organizations have observer status. In the period from 2006 to 2022 the National Youth Council of Russia was part of the European Youth Forum.
