The purpose of this event is to discuss important issues of horizontal relationships between youth, a promising vector of open dialogue between the CIS Member States. For the first time the meeting of the Council for Youth Affairs of the CIS Member States was held jointly with the Youth Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States. The agenda of the joint meeting included key issues and documents on international youth cooperation in the CIS. Representatives from each state spoke about the implementation of the Strategy for International Youth Cooperation of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States for the period until 2020, and discussed proposals for the draft of this Strategy for 2021–2030, which is planned to be approved at the next meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS. The participants of the joint meeting reviewed the Concept for the development of cooperation among the CIS Member States in supporting the youth volunteer movement and measures for its implementation as well as a plan for the participation of Commonwealth youth in preparing for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
On May 31, 2019 the meeting of the Council for Youth Affairs of the CIS Member States and the visiting session of the CIS International Youth Association were held in parallel. During the meeting such issues as preparation of the international stage of the final of the International Youth Project of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States "100 ideas for the CIS", expansion of cooperation in social support and creation of conditions for self-realization of the younger generation, results of the Forum of Youth Organizations of the CIS Member States and preparations for the Forum in 2019, the progress in implementing the Council decisions on the activities of the basic organization of the CIS Member States for working with youth, etc. were considered.
The participants
The members of the Council from the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the representative with the powers of the member of the Council from the Republic of Tajikistan, the representatives of the Republic of Uzbekistan as well as the basic organizations of the CIS Member States for working with youth and for the development of youth entrepreneurship, the representatives of government bodies and youth public associations of the Republic of Tatarstan. In total 33 people (29 participants and 4 organizers).
The key results
The meeting participants discussed the results of the implementation of the Strategy for International Youth Cooperation of the CIS Member States until 2020 and proposals for the draft of this Strategy for 2021–2030. The agenda of the meeting considered issues on the Concept for the development of cooperation among the CIS Member States in supporting the youth volunteer movement and measures for its implementation as well as the plan for the participation of Commonwealth’s youth in preparing for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945. In total six issues were considered at the joint meeting of the council as well as seven issues at the meeting of the Council for Youth Affairs of CIS Member States.
