Council for Youth Affairs of the CIS Member States

The Council for Youth Affairs of the CIS Member States was established in accordance with the Agreement of the CIS Member States on cooperation in the field of youth work dated November 25, 2005.

The goals of activities of the Council are:

  • implementation of the Strategy for International Youth Cooperation of the CIS Member States,
  • joining the efforts of states in the study of youth problems,
  • improvement of methodological support of youth work,
  • active involvement of young people in the development of integration processes.

The Council consists of two authorized representatives from each state: the head of the state authority for youth affairs and a representative of a large public association involved in the implementation of state youth policy.

The Russian Federation is represented in the Council by the Director of the Department of State Youth Policy and Educational Activities of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Russia. 

Two meetings of the Council are held annually. The chairmanship of the Council is carried out in turn by each state party to the Agreement for a period of one year.
