On the eve of the great event – the 100th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Russian Federation – the youth meeting was held bringing together more than 70 participants on the online platform. Experts, representatives of youth and student associations, universities as well as young professionals from both countries took part there. 

The program of the event consisted of two parts such as plenary session with the participation of officials from Russia and Mongolia and an interactive round table for representatives of youth and student associations, students and young professionals from Russia and Mongolia.

Participants were 67 people. They were experts, representatives of youth and student associations, universities as well as young professionals from both countries.

The plenary session was attended by the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population of Mongolia Ayuushin Ariunzayaa, the Deputy Director of the Department of State Youth Policy of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Andrey Tolmachev, the Counselor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Mongolia, the Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Mongolia Amgalan Bazarkhandaev. The First Secretary of the Embassy of Mongolia in the Russian Federation Zhigzhidsuren Bayarkhuu, the President of the World Alumni Association Vladimir Chetiy, the Deputy Executive Director of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund Roman Grishenin also participated there. The session was moderated by the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Russia Grigory Petushkov. 

The second and main part of the meeting was held in the format of a discussion where representatives of youth and student associations, students and young specialists from fraternal regions presented their creative and interesting ideas for implementing closer interaction and cooperation between states.

The Director of the Youth organization for the dissemination of science and culture "Khangard" Ganbaatar Nagvaralnangil, the Chairman of the Buryat regional branch of the Russian Union of Youth Badma Balzhinimaev, the Vice-President of the Social Democratic Youth Union of Mongolia Saykhansanaa Khurelbaatar shared their initiatives and projects. The Chairman of the Altai regional branch of the Youth Assembly of the Peoples of Russia "WE ARE RUSSIANS", the coordinator of the interethnic project "Living Book" of the Russian Union of Youth Ksenia Popova, the Chairman of the Republican public organization of the Russian Union of Youth "Youth Union of Tuva" Ertine Kuluuar, the Chairman of the Trans-Baikal regional branch of the Russian Union of Rural Youth Irina Glukhova and others also shared their views. 

Results:

This meeting made it possible to discuss important aspects of relations between states, namely prospects for Russian-Mongolian relations and new opportunities for interaction between youth and public diplomacy, strengthening relations between the two states. Participants of the meeting exchanged best practices of youth work and politics, shared their ideas on the development of the Russian-Mongolian youth dialogue and determined further stages of interaction between states for 2021.

Among proposals of participants on the development of Russian-Mongolian youth cooperation and on the plan of events for the anniversary year many constructive and creative ideas were voiced. Among them were the creation of the Russian-Mongolian Student Union, which would unite students and young scientists from Russia and Mongolia including Mongolian students in the Russian Federation and Russians studying in Mongolia, organization of youth equestrian transition from the Trans-Baikal Territory to Mongolia on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations, projects in the field of preserving historical memory, ecology, inclusive tourism and others.

Participants unconditionally agreed that it is necessary to increase the number of joint events not only online but also within the framework of live communication. Such projects can be student exchange programs or the organization of group tours with the aim of introducing one or another culture of states.
