The Youth Forum "Youth of Russia and Turkey: New Horizons" was held on November 21-25, 2022 in Moscow. It brought together youth leaders from Russia and Turkey who were motivated to develop youth cooperation and launch joint projects.
The purpose of the forum was to intensify cooperation, strengthen friendly and professional ties between youth leaders of Russia and Turkey to facilitate the development of Russian-Turkish relations.
The tasks:
- to form a pool of active youth leaders from Russia and Turkey interested in the development of Russian-Turkish youth cooperation,
- to discuss the current state of Russian-Turkish youth cooperation and the role of youth in strengthening bilateral relations between Russia and Turkey,
- to create conditions for the exchange of experience, further cooperation and development of joint projects between youth leaders of Russia and Turkey,
- to talk about existing opportunities and resources for the development of Russian-Turkish youth cooperation,
- to develop proposals and recommendations for the development of youth cooperation and forms of interaction between youth leaders of Russia and Turkey.
The forum was organized jointly by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the National Youth Council of Russia and MIREA – Russian Technological University with the support of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund.
The forum was carried out in the following thematic areas:
- education and science,
- international relationships,
- new media,
- entrepreneurship in agriculture,
- volunteering,
- sport,
- youth tourism.
The forum was attended by 50 people including representatives of youth public organizations, informal youth associations, public organizations dealing with issues of international youth cooperation, representatives of student organizations, young scientists, undergraduate and graduate students in the field of "International Relations", young journalists, bloggers, entrepreneurs and authors of startups in the field of agriculture, volunteers.
The key results:
During the forum the participants discussed the current state of Russian-Turkish youth cooperation and the role of youth in strengthening bilateral relations, were informed about the existing opportunities and resources for the development of Russian-Turkish youth cooperation and exchanged experiences.
As a result of the forum the participants developed and presented six joint projects aimed at developing Russian-Turkish youth cooperation. Among them:
- the "Youth and policymaking" project aimed at involving young people in the decision-making process by creating an internship system that allows them to get acquainted in practice with the structure of the legislative system of Russia and Turkey,
- the "Golden Star/AltınYıldız" project aimed at creating a network platform for finding like-minded people and partners in the field of science and education which will provide an opportunity for students and young researchers from Russia and Turkey to look for partners for cooperation from various scientific fields, exchange experiences and implement joint projects,
- the "Youth-Sport Tourism" project aimed at developing youth sports tourism between countries,
- the "International Diplomatic School: Russia and Turkiye" project which implies the creation of a platform aimed at improving relations between Russia and Turkey by establishing new connections between young professionals in the field of international relations, law and political science,
- the "Agricultural entrepreneurship. Liquid fertilizers and irrigations systems" project aimed at developing cooperation between Russia and Turkey in the field of agriculture through the introduction of Turkish fertilizers and irrigation systems to the Russian market,
- the "NetworKing" project aimed at increasing the awareness of Russian and Turkish youth, youth organizations and unions of countries about the culture of Russia and Turkey, their traditions, experience in the field of youth work as well as the creation of a conversation club.
