On December 23, 2021 the Russian-Portuguese Youth Meeting was held online, 50 participants were from Russia and Portugal: representatives of youth associations, students and young professionals from both countries.

The program of the event consisted of two parts: the official opening with the participation of officials from Russia and Portugal and the panel discussion with representatives of the largest youth NGOs from Russia and Portugal. The topic of the panel discussion was “Youth cooperation as a tool for strengthening bilateral relations between Russia and Portugal: building the potential of interregional youth dialogue and implementing joint projects".

Welcoming words at the opening of the meeting were made by the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Russia Grigory Valeryevich Petushkov, the Chairman of the Board of the National Youth Council of Portugal Joao Pedro Videira, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Portuguese Republic Mikhail Leonidovich Kamynin, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Portuguese Republic to the Russian Federation Madalena Fischer, the Director of the Department of State Youth Policy and Educational Activities of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Denis Valeryevich Ashirov, Senior Officer of the Department of Youth Affairs of the National Institute of Sports and Youth of the Portuguese Republic Miguel Martins, the Head of the Russian House in Lisbon Vladimir Svyatoslavovich Yaroshevsky, the Deputy Executive Director of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund Victoria Georgievna Karslieva.

The second and the main part of the meeting was held in the format of discussion during which the participants exchanged the best practices of youth work, shared their ideas on the development of the Russian-Portuguese youth dialogue and identified further stages of interaction.

Participants: 50 people - youth from Russia and Portugal: leaders of youth organizations, leaders of youth projects, representatives of state authorities in the field of youth policy and youth work, young parliamentarians and members of youth parliaments, students and graduate students interested in the development of Russian-Portuguese cooperation, young compatriots living abroad.

Results: During the meeting the participants exchanged experience in the development of youth policy, talked about the possibilities of cooperation between Russia and Portugal and discussed current topics on the present youth agenda and prospects for the Russia-Portugal youth dialogue.
