On November 24, 2020 the Russian-Moldovan youth meeting was held in the Zoom-conference format. The purpose of the event was creation conditions for enhancing dialogue and cooperation between youth associations of Russia and Moldova.

Participants were 50 people. They were experts, representatives of youth and student associations, youth media, universities, young politicians and students from different regions of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Moldova.

The event included a plenary session on the topic "The state and prospects of humanitarian cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Moldova" and a round table "Best practices in youth policy and youth work. Involvement of youth in international youth cooperation and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Proposals for the development of the Russian-Moldovan youth dialogue" with the participation of youth organizations.

The plenary session chaired by the Head of the National Youth Council of Russia Grigory Petushkov was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Moldova to the Russian Federation Andrey Neguta, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research of the Republic of Moldova Ivan Georgiou, the Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo office in the Republic of Moldova Andrey Muraviev, the Deputy Director of the Department of State Youth Policy of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Andrey Tolmachev. The Attaché of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau Alexandra Abramova, the Deputy Executive Director of the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund Roman Grishenin, the President of the World Association of Graduates of Higher Educational Institutions Vladimir Chetiy also took part. 

At the end of the session a dialogue began between speakers and youth participants regarding prospects for Russian-Moldovan cooperation in connection with the election of the new President of the Republic of Moldova as well as interregional and interuniversity cooperation.

Within the framework of the round table "Best practices of youth policy and youth work. Involvement of youth in international youth cooperation and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Proposals for the development of the Russian-Moldovan youth dialogue" moderated by the Head of the International Department of the National Youth Council of Russia Valeria Dubravina presentations were made by the Chairman of the National Youth Council of Moldova Nikolay Kelesh, the Head of the Regional Public Organization "Moldovan Youth Support Centre" Vladislav Levshenkov, the Deputy Director of the ANO "Informational and Analytical Center" Ekaterina Alekseeva. The program coordinator of the Youth Platform of Interethnic Solidarity Dina Linetskaya, the Director of the YSP organization "Youth and students for peace" in Moldova Cornelia Garanovski and the leader of the YSP organization in Yekaterinburg Olga Solovyova also made presentations. Member of the Youth Advisory Group on Climate Issues under the UN Secretary General, the representative of Moldova and MGIMO alumnus Vladislav Kaim sent a video greeting to participants of the meeting that emphasized the importance of international youth cooperation in the field of sustainable development and its potential facilitation the Transnistrian settlement.

Results

  • Participants of the round table exchanged experience in the field of youth policy and youth work, talked about problems of employment, protection of rights of youth and ethnic minorities. They also discussed prospects for the development of the Russian-Moldovan youth dialogue. The meeting has become an important platform for interaction and the acquisition of useful contacts for further cooperation.
  • Among the most promising areas for the development of Russian-Moldovan youth cooperation participants identified the preservation of historical memory and common cultural heritage, international and interethnic dialogue, promotion of the Russian language, joint volunteer projects, sustainable development and ecology. They also talked about importance of education, programs for young teachers and young professionals, internships with the subsequent employment of Moldovan students and graduates in the Russian Federation, informational direction (promotion of a positive image of the Russian Federation in Moldova and Moldova in the Russian Federation), sports and a healthy lifestyle.

Proposals for the development of Russian-Moldovan youth cooperation voiced during the meeting:

  • Youth Esports Tournament (proposed by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science), 
  • Russian-Moldovan Youth Forum in 2021 (proposal of the National Youth Council of Russia), 
  • International School of Minorities (proposal of the Youth Platform of Interethnic Solidarity from Moldova), 
  • Platforms for professional communication of young specialists from Russia and Moldova (offer of ANO "Informational and Analytical Centre");
  • Cooperation in the field of youth social entrepreneurship (proposal of the National Youth Council of Moldova), 
  • Exchange of experience among young teachers from Russia and Moldova (proposal of the Student Council of the University of Comrat), 
  • Cooperation on issues of a healthy lifestyle, mass and accessible sports (street athletics – workout, streetlifting), street culture (proposal of the All-Russian public organization "Streets of Russia", NGO CSS "PRORYV").
