IV Youth forum Russia – CELAC was held from December 14 to 16, 2021 in an online format and brought together more than 70 participants from Russia and the countries of the Community of Latin America and Caribbean States (CELAC).
The forum was aimed at strengthening friendship and mutual understanding, building long-term partnerships between Russian youth and the countries of the Community of Latin America and Caribbean States (CELAC).
Tasks:
- Activation and expansion of youth public dialogue and cooperation between Russia and the CELAC countries in the field of youth policy,
- Assistance in the socio-political, scientific, educational, creative self-realization of Russian youth and the CELAC countries,
- Assistance in increasing the expert potential of Russian youth and the CELAC countries on topical issues of interregional cooperation,
- Involvement of active youth in the processes of developing solutions to the most urgent and promising tasks for the development of interaction and cooperation between Russia and the CELAC countries,
- Raising awareness of Russian youth about the CELAC countries and youth of Latin America and the Caribbean States about Russia in order to form an objective view of each other,
- Formation of the community of representatives of youth public and student associations, young professionals, and representatives of active youth from Russia and the CELAC countries interested in maintaining the dialogue, implementing joint projects and developing long-term partnerships.
In 2021 the forum was held in the format of the Russia-CELAC Model of International Dialogue. Forum participants could become delegates and represent the official positions of the countries assigned to them in one of 2 committees:
- committee on socio-economic issues,
- committee "Agency for Latin America and the Caribbean States for the issue of Space".
Over the course of three days, the participants had the opportunity to jointly develop the most effective solutions to the issues on the global and regional agenda that are relevant for Russia and the CELAC Members.
Participants: More than 70 people: officials from Russia and CELAC countries, representatives of the embassies of the CELAC countries in Russia, representatives of youth public associations, youth branches of political parties, activists of student movements, Latin American students in the Russian Federation interested in developing youth cooperation between Russia and the CELAC countries.
Outcome: During the three days of active discussions in the committees the delegates demonstrated excellent awareness of the problems and challenges facing the region.
Based on the work results, both committees finalized their resolutions. They include specific proposals and initiatives on the issues discussed at the forum and the expansion of international youth cooperation between Russia and Members of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
Moreover, the forum participants emphasized the important role of youth in modern international relations and called for the development of interaction between student organizations and government structures.
As a result of the forum, participants came to the unanimous conclusion that the Russia-CELAC Youth forum should be established as a permanent sustainable platform for dialogue between youth of Russia, Latin America and the Caribbean States. At the same time it should continue its development using various formats of youth interaction.
