From March 9 to 13, 2024 at the invitation of the National Youth Council of Russia, a delegation of the Socialist Union of Patriotic Youth of the DPRK paid an official visit to Russia.
The visit took place within the framework of the implementation of the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on cultural cooperation.
The guests from the DPRK laid flowers at the Eternal Flame at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, visited Red Square and Lenin's Mausoleum, the International Exhibition-Forum "Russia" at VDNH, listened to the concert of the Russian National Orchestra at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
On March 11 the delegation visited one of the leading universities of the country, MIREA – Russian Technological University. Representatives of the Socialist Union of Patriotic Youth met with the Rector Stanislav Kudj, saw new laboratories and the Cyberzone cybersport centre.
The main event of the programme was the Meeting of Young Delegates of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation. Its participants proposed many interesting initiatives concerning future joint projects.
On March 12 the delegation headed by the Comrade Moon Chhor, the Chairman of the Central Committee of the DPRK SUPY, met with Konstantin Mogilevsky, the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. During the conversation the parties touched upon the prospects for cooperation in science and education.
In the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation the guests from the DPRK exchanged views on a wide range of issues of bilateral relations with Ivan Melnikov, the First Deputy Chairman of the CPRF Central Committee, the First Deputy Chairman of the Parliament, and Vladimir Isakov, the Secretary of the CPRF Central Committee, the First Secretary of the LCYU RF Central Committee, the Deputy of the State Duma.
The delegation of the Socialist Union of Patriotic Youth of the DPRK also discussed new mutual projects with Sergei Mironov, the Head of the faction "A Just Russia – For Truth" (JRFT), Alexei Chepa, the State Duma Deputy and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, the secretary of the JRFT Presidium for working with youth.
"Our party A JUST RUSSIA – FOR TRUTH has long-standing friendly relations with the Labour Party of Korea. We share the same values such as justice, solidarity, patriotism. We have agreed with our colleagues to sign a cooperation agreement between our youth organisations in the near future. I hope that this is only the beginning of friendship between our organisations," Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova said.
On March 13 the programme of the visit was completed with a meeting at the DPRK Embassy in Moscow.
We recall that in May 2018 a study visit of delegates of Russian youth organisations to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea took place. Following the visit the leaders of the National Youth Council and the Socialist Union of Patriotic Youth of the DPRK signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
This year the delegation of leaders of Russian public youth organisations, the member organisations of the National Youth Council will pay a return visit to Pyongyang.
