Events of the Churkin Moscow International Model United Nations will be held from April 14 to 19, 2024 in Moscow at MGIMO University.
The Model UN is an exciting role-playing game where college and high school students replicate the work of the United Nations. Its participants are delegates, observers, chairmen and experts act as official representatives of the UN Member States and international organizations who came to the conference to discuss the agenda. During the Model delegates express not a personal point of view, but the official position of the country they represent. The goal of each committee is to pass a resolution on the item on the agenda.
The working languages of the Model will be Russian, English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese.
University students (bachelor's, master's, postgraduate) and high school students can participate in the Model. There are no age restrictions for the conference participants.
The selection of the participants consists of two stages:
- Fill out the form on the Model website before 23:59 (Moscow time) on April 7, 2024. The questionnaire includes abstracts, namely an essay on the agenda of the selected committee written in its language. The essay is checked by an expert. If it does not meet his requirements, the candidate is asked to improve it. If the essay suits the expert, the candidate moves on to the second stage of selection.
- Video interview. The expert contacts the candidate at the appointed time and asks him questions about the history and structure of the UN as well as the agenda. If the interview is unsuccessful, the candidate can take it again. If the interview is successful, the candidate receives information about the country or organization that he will represent.
After receiving information about the country/organization, the following is necessary:
- pay the registration fee within 7 days,
- within three weeks send the position of the represented country/organization to the expert.
A registration fee is required to cover the costs of the Model UN and cultural program. Payment is required for all Model participants.
The terms of participation:
- the participants bear the costs of travel to Moscow and back, accommodation and meals during the Model period, and also pay the registration fee,
- the organizers ensure the implementation of the business and cultural program of the Model, and also provide assistance to foreign participants in obtaining visas.
