Acceptance of works for the Gromyko СIS Young Internationalists Competition continues

The Gromyko CIS Young Internationalists Сompetition is organised by the Gromyko Association for Foreign Policy Studies, MGIMO University, the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Management under the President of the Republic of Belarus with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, the Standing Committee of the Union State and the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The project is being implemented with a grant from the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation.

The purpose of the competition is to popularise research on international relations, modern diplomatic history and integration processes in the Eurasian space.

The competition is aimed at expanding the dialogue between young specialists, researchers and diplomats as well as intensifying the interaction between research and educational institutions of the CIS and the EAEU Member States.

The competition is open to the citizens of CIS Member States:

  • students and graduates of higher education institutions, 
  • postgraduates, 
  • scientists, 
  • teachers, 
  • journalists, 
  • analysts, 
  • diplomats.

The nominations of the competition:

  1. The main nomination – scientific articles by postgraduate students, scientists, teachers, analysts and diplomats not older than 40 years as of 1 August 2024.

  2. The debut nomination – scientific articles by students and graduates of higher education institutions not older than 30 years as of 1 August 2024.

  3. The essay Contest nomination – journalistic essays by students and graduates of higher education institutions not older than 30 years as of 1 August 2024.

Original unpublished scientific articles and analytical notes written independently by one or several authors (not more than 30 thousand characters) and devoted to the study of the following topics are accepted for participation in the competition:

  • prospects of integration projects in the post-Soviet space: the Union State of Belarus and Russia, the EAEU, the CIS, the CSTO, 
  • contours of the new world order: challenges and opportunities for Russia and the CIS Member States, 
  • scientific diplomacy as a resource for the formation of Greater Eurasia. 
  • "total sanctions war": legal status, consequences and methods of counteraction, 
  • the role and place of Central Asia and Transcaucasia in Eurasian integration, 
  • threats of conflicts and tools for strengthening security in Eurasia, 
  • the A. Gromyko's diplomatic legacy, 
  • The Great Patriotic War and the Second World War: the problem of preserving historical memory and the fight against falsification of history, 
  • the role of the UN, its past and future in the system of international relations.

Contest papers in the main and debut nominations should be prepared in accordance with the rules of preparation of scientific articles.

In 2024 the works in the special nomination for journalistic essays on the following topics also accepted: 

  • "A new redivision of the world: war of civilisations or balance of macro-regions", 
  • "Culture Wars: How does the struggle to reformat human identity affect world politics?"

For participation in the contest, you should send an application form via the electronic form on the website until 23:59 (Moscow time) on May 13, 2024 inclusive, attaching a participant questionnaire and a file with the contest work. The participant questionnaire form is also available on the competition website.

At least 50 finalists will receive an invitation to the final stage of the Competition in July 2024 at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences and MGIMO University (the organisers will cover the costs of travel, accommodation and meals in Moscow). Finalists of the competition will receive diplomas and memorable gifts. The articles of the finalists are published in the scientific collection based on the results of the competition.

The winners will be awarded valuable prizes, their scientific articles will be published in the leading scientific (including those included in the Higher Attestation Commission list) and analytical editions.
