The Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) was created in 2008 by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation.
One of the most important activities of Rossotrudnichestvo is the implementation of youth projects:
- Since 2011 the "New Generation" program of short-term study trips to Russia for young representatives of political, social, scientific and business circles of foreign countries has been implemented. Every year more than 1,000 young leaders aged 25 to 35 visit Russia to establish professional contacts and build long-term partnerships with Russian government and non-government agencies, youth and public organizations,
- Since 2014 the Cultural and Educational Travel Program "Hello, Russia!" has been implemented for young compatriots. Every year more than 700 children aged 14 to 19 years from near and far abroad come to Russia to get acquainted with the modern life of their historical homeland, experience its multinational culture, practice the Russian language and find friends in other countries. The participants in the program are the winners of creative competitions, olympiads, and intellectual competitions for knowledge of the history and culture of Russia as well as the Russian language. Selection tests are carried out by Russian Houses Abroad (the foreign representative offices of Rossotrudnichestvo),
- From 2021, together with the Association of Volunteer Centers and the Russian Humanitarian Mission, the international humanitarian project "Mission Dobro" is being implemented. The goal is the participation of Russians in socially significant projects abroad as well as foreign volunteers in social projects in Russia,
- Rossotrudnichestvo is a partner of the "InteRussia" research internship program for young foreign specialists which is implemented by the Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund since 2021.
Rossotrudnichestvo is a permanent member of the Russian-French Youth Exchange Committee.
Within the framework of the Public Council under Rossotrudnichestvo there is a Commission for International Humanitarian and Youth Cooperation.
