German Sports Youth Association (DSJ)

The German Sports Youth Association is the largest public organization for working with children and youth in Germany founded in 1950.

Member organizations of the DSJ represent different sports and all the regions of Germany, among them are the sports youth associations of the federal states, the youth organizations of the leading sports federations and specialized sports unions. All these organizations represent the interests of 90,000 clubs in which about 10 million children and youth go in for sports.

The mission of the association is to invest in the future of youth through sports.

Main activities:

  • Young volunteers in sports, 
  • Protection of children and youth in sports, 
  • International youth work in the field of sports, 
  • Creation of conditions for sports and physical education for children and youth for the purpose of comprehensive development, improvement of the quality of pedagogical training in children's and youth sports.

One of the key areas of activity is international youth work in the field of sports. Within the framework of international cooperation DSJ develops Germany's youth relations with France, Greece, Israel, Japan, and Poland.

The German Sports Youth organizes and promotes youth exchange programs as well as advanced training for specialists and organizers of youth sports events.

The Russian partner of DSJ is the Russian Student Sports Union. On September 14, 2017 an Agreement on cooperation in the field of working with youth was signed between the RSSU and the German Sports Youth (DSJ) association, the key project within the framework of this cooperation is the Russian-German Forum of Organizers of Sports Youth Exchanges.

DSJ is the member of the German Olympic Sports Association (DOSB) and the member of the Russian-German Council for Youth Cooperation.
