The Italian Youth Council is the advisory body where youth organizations in Italy are represented.

The Italian Youth Council represents the interests of young people in the state authorities of the country and promotes the interests of youth at the state level. The Italian Department of Youth Policy and Civil Service is a key partner of the National Council.

Tasks of the Italian Council:

  • encourage dialogue between youth institutions and organizations, 
  • promote the active citizenship of young people and support the activities of youth associations facilitating the exchange of experience and expanding the network of contacts between them, 
  • promote the formation and development of youth advisory bodies at the local level, 
  • cooperate with state administrations by conducting research and preparing reports on the state of youth which are necessary to determine the state of youth policy in the country, 
  • evaluate and comment on legislative acts on issues affecting young people initiated by the Government of Italy, 
  • participate in European and international forums encouraging communication, relations and exchanges between youth organizations from different countries, 
  • make reports to the Prime Minister of Italy, 
  • promote and support projects which are interesting for young people, 
  • contribute to the meeting of youth organizations supporting common projects in accordance with the goals and founding principles of the Italian Youth Council.

At the moment the Italian Youth Council has 70 member organizations.

The cooperation of the Italian Youth Council with Russia until 2022 was carried out in partnership with the National Youth Council of Russia.

The Italian Youth Council is the permanent member of the European Youth Forum.
