The Interregional Public Organization "German Youth Association", "Jugendring der Russlanddeutschen" (GYA) was established on March 17, 1997.

At the moment the German Youth Association unites 51 youth public organizations of Russian Germans in 35 regions of Russia.

The mission of the GYA is preservation and development of the culture of Russian Germans, popularization of the German language, development of self-organization of Russian Germans.

Goals of the German Youth Association:

  1. Preservation of historical memory, tangible and intangible heritage of Russian Germans, 

  2. Formation and development of civil and ethnic identity of young Russian Germans, 

  3. Development of a regional network of youth organizations and clubs of Russian Germans, 

  4. Ensuring continuity in the system of self-organization of Russian Germans, 

  5. Development of international youth cooperation.

The Interregional Public Organization "German Youth Association" is the member organization of the National Youth Council of Russia.

Every year the GYA implements dozens of youth projects that are aimed at formatting and developing the civil and ethnic identity of young Russian Germans, the preservation and transmission of the cultural heritage of Russian Germans.

One of the priority activities of the GYA is building partnerships with youth organizations in Russia and abroad.

The German Youth Association is the permanent member of the Russian-German Council for Youth Cooperation.

For 20 years there has been cooperation between the GYA and the Federal Association "German Youth in Europe" (Bundesverband "Deutsche Jugend in Europa – DJO"), within the framework of which about 30 youth exchange projects are carried out annually both at the national and regional levels.

Since 1999 the GYA has been the member of Youth of the European Nations (Jugend Europäischer Volksgruppen (JEV)).

The German Youth Association implements joint youth projects with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. The GYA also cooperates and conducts joint projects with the Youth Parliament under the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the Youth Assembly of the Peoples of Russia "WE ARE RUSSIANS".
