The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) was created on the basis of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia as an international organization for regional economic integration.

The Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union was signed by the Presidents of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan during the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on May 29, 2014 in Astana (Kazakhstan). On January 1, 2015 the Treaty on the EAEU entered into force.

The main goals of the Union:

  • creation of conditions for the stable development of the economies of the Member States in the interests of raising the living standards of their population,
  • formation of a single market for goods, services, capital and labour resources within the Union,
  • comprehensive modernization, cooperation and increasing the competitiveness of national economies.

The EAEU Member States are Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan.

Moldova, Uzbekistan and Cuba have the status of an observer state in the EAEU.

The supreme body of the EAEU uniting the heads of the EAEU Member States is the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. There is also the Eurasian Intergovernmental Economic Council, which includes the Heads of governments of the Member States.

The permanent supranational regulatory body of the EAEU is the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The active involvement of Russian youth in the development of the EAEU is one of the priority tasks of the international cooperation of the Russian Federation in the field of youth policy.

The legal basis for the development of youth cooperation within the EAEU is the Declaration on the further development of integration processes within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union adopted on December 6, 2018 following the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

In 2019 the Youth Council, a voluntary association of officials and employees of the Eurasian Economic Commission, was established under the Eurasian Economic Commission.
