Asian Youth Council

The Asian Youth Council (AYC) was established on August 14, 1972. It is a non-governmental organization acting in the interests of youth*.

The AYC has consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).

The AYC is made up of national youth organizations in Asia. More than 30 years ago the AYC became a platform for the exchange of information and knowledge between the national youth councils of Asian countries and other interregional organizations.

Objectives of the Asian Youth Council:

  • unite all national youth councils in Asia into a single association the Asian Youth Council, 
  • promote the economic, social and political integration of Asian youth at the level of regional development, 
  • promote cooperation between national youth councils in Asia with governmental and non-governmental, regional and international
  • organizations to encourage youth volunteerism and development, 
  • provide greater awareness and a global understanding of the issues affecting young people in Asia, 
  • support young people in Asia to realize their true potential and contribute to the development of their communities and nations.

In the Asian Youth Council the Russian Federation is represented by the National Youth Council of Russia being an observer organization.
