From May 12 to 16, 2019 in Rostov-on-Don, as part of the implementation of the Russian-German Youth Exchange Program for 2019, the Seminar “Language Animation in Russian-German Youth Exchange” was held.
Speakers opened the seminar:
- Dina Sokolova – head of the Russian National Coordination bureau of Russian-Germany youth exchanges,
- Thomas Hoffman – executive director of the German-Russian youth exchange Fund,
- Andrey Kosenko – head of the youth Affairs Department of the Rostov-on-don Administration.
Dina Sokolova noted: “Together with our partner, the German-Russian youth exchange Fund, we hold annual professional development events for youth exchange organizers, but this is the first time such a project is being held. The result of the seminar will be the creation of a pool of coordinators for language animation, which will increase the efficiency of Russian-German projects of youth and school exchange held in the regions of Russia ”
Andrei Kosenko noted the importance of joint youth projects: “The city of Rostov-on-Don is glad to once again act as a platform for the Russian-German youth project. We believe that the development of international youth cooperation, the implementation of joint projects has a beneficial impact on the social and economic development of our cities and has a long-term perspective.”
Representatives of state institutions and public organizations with experience in conducting Russian-German youth exchanges from different regions of Russia: Arkhangelsk, Barnaul, Volgograd, Vologda region, Izhevsk, Krasnodar Territory, Lipetskaya, Moscow region, Rostov-on-Don, Cheboxar, St. Petersburg and Moscow took part in this seminar.
Within the framework of the seminar program the participants got acquainted with priority directions of development of Russian-German youth cooperation, were trained in language animation methodology and worked out the acquired skills at a workshop with participation of pupils from School № 53 of Rostov-on-Don.
The purpose of the event is to show the possibility to overcome the language barrier between the parties. Often participants in bilateral relations do not have sufficient knowledge of foreign language, and language animation comes to help, thanks to which the language barrier and shy are lost. As a result, all participants of the seminar will become representatives on language animation in their regions.
