Joint meeting of the Council for youth Affairs of the CIS member States and the Youth inter-parliamentary Assembly of the CIS member States.

8 CIS countries participated in the event.

At the opening ceremony held yesterday morning in the Kazan city Hall, the guests were greeted by:

  • F. Mukhametshin, Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan;
  • T. Lebedeva, Coordinator the Youth Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the CIS member states, Member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation;
  • G. Petushkov, Chairman of the Association of NGOs «National Youth Council of Russia»;
  • O. Chernysheva, the director of the department of the state youth policy and social projects in the sphere of the highest educations Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and othes;

Damir Fattakhov, Minister of Youth Affairs of the Republic of Tatarstan spoke about the implementation of the state youth policy in Tatarstan.

Welcoming the participants of the meeting, T. Lebedeva noted that in Kazan there is an extremely significant event for youth cooperation in the Commonwealth of Independent States. This is important because the Youth inter-parliamentary Assembly of the CIS member States  and the Council on Youth Affairs of the CIS Member States are the two main inter-State bodies on youth issues in the Commonwealth space. She also explained that Kazan had been chosen for the Youth inter-parliamentary Assembly of the CIS member States retreat because the city had a rich historical and cultural heritage and was rightly considered the youth capital of the Russian Federation.

G. Petushkov told the young parliamentarians-members of the Youth inter-parliamentary Assembly of the CIS member States about the youth Council, its structure, goals and tasks. He also informed the audience that Kazan has applied for participation in the project “Youth capital of Europe ” and has already passed the second stage, and invited those present to support the capital of Tatarstan in the fight for this status.

The opening ceremony was also attended by other distinguished guests, including the mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, delegates from he Youth inter-parliamentary Assembly of the CIS member States (the representatives of the Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Russian Federation) , members of the Council of youth Affairs of the States-participants CIS (the Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Republic of Uzbekistan, Russian Federation).

Olga Chernysheva, the director of the department of the state youth policy and social projects in the sphere of the highest educations Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation made a report on the implementation of youth policy in the Russian Federation. She spoke about the work of the automated information system “Youth of Russia”, support for young scientists and graduate students , and work on the development of volunteerism. The participants of the meeting agreed that the main” KPI ” in youth policy is smiling youth.
